This past May, the record was honored with Best Album by the 2010 Ivor Novello Awards.  The Ivors “reward excellence in the art of songwriting and are judged and presented by the songwriting community and composing community.”

Paolo was extremely proud to be recognized, “It is an honor to get an award voted for by songwriters… happy days and thanks for the support.”

In other Paolo news, he has also been awarded the 2010 Fashion Icon of the Year at the Scottish Fashion Awards.

The single is a re-recording of “Tricks of the Trade,” performed live in New Orleans last year.  Nutini found backup from the New Orleans Preservation Hall Jazz Band for the track.

This single is the fourth single from his 2009 release Sunny Side Up, which was a massive hit around the world.  Prior singles include “Candy,” “Coming Up Easy” and “Pencil Full of Lead.”

Nutini’s is a very unique story of growing up in Scotland, where he was expected to eventually take over his father’s fish & chips shop. Instead, encouraged by his music-loving grandfather, Jackie, Nutini set out to fufill his dream.

The dream has landed him recording his gruff mixture of soul, reggae, folk and rock in places like New York and LA, as well as Ireland, Wales and the UK.
